The Austrian Academy of Sciences (ÖAW), the largest non-university institution for basic research in Austria, is seeking to fill the position of

IT network technician (m/f/x) 

(including further training as a cybersecurity engineer)

 (full-time, 40 hours per week, Vienna 1010)

Your responsibilities

We are looking for:

an ambitious IT network technician (m/f/x) who is ready to take the next step in their career and train as a cybersecurity engineer. If you are passionate about IT security, are technically savvy, and want to develop professionally, you've come to the right place!

Your responsibilities:

  • Analysis, planning, and implementation of security measures in IT infrastructures
  • Monitoring and optimization of network security
  • Conducting security analyses and penetration tests
  • Identification, assessment, and elimination of security risks
  • Collaboration in the development and implementation of security guidelines
  • Training and awareness-raising of employees in IT security issues

Your profile

  • Successfully completed training in the field of IT (e.g., IT specialist for system integration, IT technician, degree in computer science, or comparable qualification)
  • Relevant professional experience of at least 3 to 5 years in the field of IT network administration/technology
  • Language skills:
    • GERMAN fluent in spoken and written (at least C1) according to CEFR
    • ENGLISH good (minimum B2) according to CEFR
  • Knowledge of network protocols, firewall configuration, and network analysis
    Keen interest in IT security and willingness to undergo intensive further training
    Analytical mindset, problem-solving skills, and team spirit
    Optional: Initial exposure to cybersecurity technologies (not a must)
