As a central non-university institution for science and research, the Austrian Academy of Sciences - OeAW has the task of "promoting science in every respect". Founded in 1847 as a learned society, it now has over 760 members and around 1,800 employees dedicated to innovative basic research, interdisciplinary knowledge exchange and the dissemination of new insights. The Vienna Institute of Demography of the Austrian Academy of Sciences (OeAW), Austria’s leading non-university research and science institution, is offering a Position as
POSTDOCTORAL RESEARCHER (F/M/X)
(part-time/ 20 h per week)
to join the Research Group on Demography of Austria, headed by Isabella Buber-Ennser.
The position offers a contract of 6 months, starting on 1st October 2025.
Your Tasks
- The successful candidate will work largely independently on (sub)projects within the framework of the research group, present her/his work and results in internal colloquia and prepare a publication in a refereed journal.
Your Profile
- PhD in Demography, Social Sciences, Statistics, or other relevant fields
- Ability to work independently and to collaborate with a broader research team
- solid knowledge of demographic methods
- Excellent statistical software skills, such as Stata or R
- Excellent oral and written communication skills in English

Start of employment is 1st of October 2025. The monthly gross salary (part time 50 %) is
€ 2.465,30, according to the collective agreement of the Austrian Academy of Sciences.
