The Vienna Institute of Demography of the  Austrian Academy of Sciences (OeAW), Austria’s leading non-university research and science institution, is offering a Position as

POSTDOCTORAL RESEARCHER (F/M/X)

 (part-time/ 20 h per week)

to join the Research Group on Demography of Austria, headed by Isabella Buber-Ennser.
The position offers a contract of 6 months, starting on 1st October 2025.

Your Tasks

  • The successful candidate will work largely independently on (sub)projects within the framework of the research group, present her/his work and results in internal colloquia and prepare a publication in a refereed journal.

Your Profile

  • PhD in Demography, Social Sciences, Statistics, or other relevant fields
  • Ability to work independently and to collaborate with a broader research team
  • solid knowledge of demographic methods
  • Excellent statistical software skills, such as Stata or R
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills in English

Start of employment is 1st of October 2025. The monthly gross salary (part time 50 %)  is 
€ 2.465,30, according to the collective agreement of the Austrian Academy of Sciences.
