Academy Scientist (f/m/x) - Prosopographic Research 

 (Part-time employee, Office & remote)

Your Tasks

  • conduct prosopographic research in an interdisciplinary environment 
  • scientific dissemination activities (publications, conference presentations a.o.) 
  • develop research projects with internal and external partners 
  • contribute to data modelling, including writing documentation 
  • contribute to software development of APIS and PFP 
  • research on state-of-the art technical solutions and their critical evaluation 
  • contribute to knowledge sharing and training activities, including production of open educational resources 

Your Profile

  • completed PhD-dissertation in the field of digital humanities,  
    ideally with specialisation in modern history, history of science or prosopography 
  • solid knowledge of Python 
  • knowledge of Semantic Web Technologies in the DH context (RDF, SPARQL, CIDOC CRM etc.) 
  • application of machine learning / artificial intelligence methods and tools on historical data is beneficial 
  • acquaintance with modern software development environments (issue management, git, CI/CD) 
  • team player with independent working style and passion for open source and open data

The initial annual gross salary is EUR 35.083,72 (for 50% employment) in accordance with the collective agreement for employees of the Austrian Academy of Sciences. Based on your experience and academic degree, a higher salary is negotiable. The employment will start at the earliest in May 2026 and run initially for one year, with the option of extension until 2031.
