The Institute of Interdisciplinary Mountain Research (IGF) of the Austrian Academy of Sciences (OeAW), Austria’s leading non-university research institution, is offering a
POSTDOC POSITION (F/M/X) for Data Integration and Accessibility
(Part-time employee) for 28hours per week.
Your Tasks
- Work on data integration and management, ensuring open data repositories are maintained, interoperable, and subject to rigorous quality control.
- Contribute to data dissemination, including publishing datasets, supporting cloud-based services, and adhering to FAIR principles.
- Collaborate with international partners across eight countries to integrate datasets and provide technical support.
- Document and report project progress, maintaining structured records and ensuring datasets are prepared for assessments such as IPCC and AMAP.
Your Profile
- Ph.D. in Geoinformatics, Environmental Science, Computer Science, or a related field.
- Experience in data management and integration, particularly with large environmental datasets.
- Familiarity with programming languages and database technologies relevant to data processing.
- Understanding of FAIR data principles and metadata management.
- Strong motivation to take initiative and work collaboratively in an interdisciplinary research environment.
- Excellent English, both written and spoken.
Candidates are not expected to meet all the desirable qualifications. However, the following would be considered a plus: - Experience with geospatial data processing (e.g., QGIS, ArcGIS, GDAL).
- Knowledge of cloud-based data storage solutions and server management.
- Prior experience in interdisciplinary, international research projects.
