Postdoc (f/m/x) 

 (Full-time employee)

We are looking for a postdoctoral researcher to strengthen our team in the field of medieval Persian prose literature in the Mongol (Ilkhanid) period in the IFI research group Premodern Iran and Persianate Worlds.

Your Tasks

  • Research on Ilkhan-period Persian literary manuscripts with a focus on prose texts 
  • Collaboration with other IFI researchers working on 13th- to 14th-century Persian manuscripts and cultural and intellectual history of Ilkhanid Iran
  • International presentations and publication of project results
  • Active participation in the activities of the Institute for Iranian Studies

Your Profile

  • A PhD in Iranian Studies or a related field with focus on the Ilkhanid period
  • Excellent knowledge of classical Persian
  • Experience in working with Persian manuscripts
  • A publication record commensurate with your postdoctoral research experience
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English
  • Willingness to engage in interdisciplinary exchange and research work in teams

Our Offer

  • a 2-year full-time fixed-term post-doctoral research position in an international, diverse and dynamic research environment in the center of Vienna
  • an annual gross salary of € 70.167,44 (before taxes), corresponding to level W3/1 of the salary scheme of the Austrian Academy of Sciences
